Places To Visit In Your Defender Wide Track
Feb 25, 2020
Allow the Chelsea Truck Company to offer a guide to some of the best places and cities to visit in England for families, children and couples in the comfort of a Defender Wide Track.
Yorkshire
Some 40 million visitors now travel to Yorkshire every year for heritage-related tourism; the sheer beauty of the county has inspired the likes of Afzal Kahn and David Hockney. There is no place like Yorkshire.
The grand old city of Bradford houses the iconic Kahn H.Q building, which is in close proximity to the Museum Of Film And Photography and a host of historical landmarks.
Point your Defender Wide Track towards the M606, drive towards Leeds and you will find out more about the Kahn story by visiting our Flagship Leeds showroom, located on Kirkstall Road.
Upon learning all about the Afzal Kahn journey, why not jump into your Defender Wide Track and drive through the Yorkshire Dales to visit the beautiful old city of York and then on to the Humber Bridge in Hull.
The Lake District
Its plethora of lakes, valleys and woodlands makes the Lake District one of the best places in Britain to go off road.
The locals will tell you that it is not unusual to experience all four seasons in a single day, so where better to take your Defender Wide Track than the grandeur of the wonderful scenery of the Lake District.
Along with the grand views, the Lake District also has a number of artistic and literary connections, William Wordsworth being the most notable individual. Wordsworth was born in Cockermouth in 1770 and drew a great deal of poetic inspiration from the surrounding landscape.
The Cotswolds
This Cotswolds region is the biggest of the 38 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in England and Wales.
Covering almost 800 square miles across five counties (Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire), you will surely find a Defender Widetrack in and amongst the towns and villages of the Cotswolds.
The Defender is perfect for every season, winters are ideal for a bracing drive, whilst Spring is perfect for a nonchalant drive, and the Summer is inevitably perfect for long evenings.
Alternatively, if you prefer a quieter atmosphere in a leafy setting, an Autumn excursion in Westonbirt and Batsford is ideal.
Cornwall
Much like the Land Rover Defender, Cornwall is steeped in history.
With 300 miles of dunes, harbours, forests and creeks – Cornwall is easily accessible in the comfort of your Defender Wide Track.
Such an unblemished coastline inspires the Enid Blyton-style writers of today: drive to a remote beach with a surf board affixed to your Defender. Surfing is a big draw and lessons are available on most beaches.
Cornwall is also known for its artistic heritage, painters and sculptors visit for the big skies, the rugged beauty and the intense light that turns the sea azure blue even in mid-winter.
If the above is not for you, you could drive towards one of the stepping-stone cliffs and clamber down to the rock pools or go swimming with seals.
