Land Rover Defender Panache
Mar 10, 2020

What is it about the Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCI SW 90 - Chelsea Wide Track that is so endearing to the fashionista of today?

You’d be forgiven for thinking the standard shape was originally formulated using a few pieces of folded cardboard and a set square, and the last time you saw hinges like the ones on the Defenders back door, they were on the smoke box of a locomotive in the science museum!

That said - the Kahn styling package is a real game changer.

Yes, it definitely has the air of a chap’s car – something you see driven by a Sherlock Holmes type fashion icon, full of authority, style and mystery.

The 9x20” Mondial wheels, front and rear wide wings with integrated vents and bolt apertures, bonnet vents in matt black, side crystal LED lights, crosshair exhaust system in stainless steel and a striking X-Lander front grille will ensure the driver will be photographed, stopped by eager passersby, demanding to know what this vehicle is.

The generous interior is a place where you can gather your thoughts and take a breather from the vagaries of everyday life.

Figure hugging front and rear sports GTB seats in quilted and perforated leather with leather stitching, rev counter facia in red, billet and leather steering wheel, roof handles with leather covers, instrument binnacle in leather and a centre glove box in quilted and perforated leather is the ideal place to retreat to whilst your other half is still on the war path for allegedly showing the Kahn Defender much more affection than you show them.... ouch!

Sadly, Land Rover will cease production of this legendary vehicle soon, but it will remain an icon long into the next century.

Best piece of advice we can give you is: had a child recently? Well, put their name down for a posh school or a golf club if you really must, but, do not, under any circumstances forget to put them down for a Kahn Defender, or else you’ll be doing the poor child a great injustice!

To sum it all up - It’s not the type of vehicle that will be left in the car park at the Savoy – it demands to be driven ... with style and panache.
