Chelsea Truck Company's Vintage-Inspired Luggage Collection: Built for the Summer Road
Jul 24, 2026
As summer travel hits its stride, Chelsea Truck Company's three-piece luggage collection takes on fresh relevance. This is not a passing accessory. It is a considered companion for the journeys that define the season, limited to 98 sets and drawn from the golden age of European rally motoring, when the drive itself, and everything carried within it, was part of the occasion.
A Design Inspired by the Golden Age of Rally Motoring
The design takes its cue from the great cross-country routes of the twentieth century, among them the Bentley Blue Train run and the Mille Miglia. On those journeys, luggage made as much of a statement as the cars that carried it. That same spirit runs through this collection, built to travel with the same purpose and precision, whether the trip in hand is a weekend departure or a longer summer expedition.
Heritage Built Into Every Detail
The design language borrows directly from Chelsea Truck Company's vehicle heritage, spanning the classic Land Rover Defender through to the boxier, hardware-forward aesthetic of modern interpretations such as the INEOS Grenadier. Exposed brass fixings, structured proportions, and a tailored, tool-like precision run through each case, echoing the exterior detailing found across the marque's Defender-based builds. It is a collection designed to sit as naturally in the back of a Defender as it does in the hands of a traveller who has never sat behind the wheel of one.
Craftsmanship: Top-Grain Leather and Solid Brass Hardware
Each case is built from top-grain leather and finished with solid brass hardware, treated with a black anodised top layer for a warm, satin black character rather than a cold industrial finish. A dual combination lock secures every case, while reinforced straps and protected corners are built in for daily use, not display alone.
On the Heritage Green colourway, the reinforcement strap is finished in satin black for contrast. On the Satin Black case, the strap disappears into the body entirely, keeping the design deliberately understated.
The Numbered Brass Plaque
A satin black plaque sits on the front of each case, positioned roughly seven-eighths of the way up, in eye line beside the handles. Fixed with the same brass hardware as the rest of the set, it carries white enamel detailing that reads Chelsea Truck Co., Limited Edition, alongside a Union Flag motif and the individual set number, from 01 to 98.
A Tailored Interior with Heritage Silhouettes
Inside, the tailored lining continues the story. Finished in black with white graphic detailing, it alternates between Chelsea Truck Company typography and a rotating selection of side-view silhouettes taken from some of the marque's most recognisable builds, including the Jeep Wrangler JK Black Hawk, the Classic Defender 90 Wide Track, and the Mercedes G-Wagon Wide Track. Laid out in a staggered, brick-style repeat, the graphics give the interior a considered, pattern-led finish more commonly associated with heritage travel houses.
Two Colourways for Every Journey
Heritage Green
Heritage Green takes its inspiration from the paintwork associated with Chelsea Truck Company's classic Defender builds, and by extension the wider British Racing Green heritage of the rally era referenced throughout the collection. It is a natural fit for the countryside and coastal routes that summer travel often follows.
Satin Black
Satin Black offers the same design ethos in a more formal, stealth-oriented finish, suited equally to city departures or longer continental drives.
The Collection: Three Cases, One Companion
Each set comprises three cases. The two larger cases are fitted with wheels and castors for ease of movement through airports, stations and hotel lobbies, while the smallest case is handle-only, a cabin companion or short-trip case in its own right.

Limited to 98 Sets: A Nod to 1998
Limited to 98 sets worldwide, the collection's numbering is a direct reference to 1998, the year A. Kahn Design was founded. Each set is numbered as a whole rather than by individual case, reflecting the three pieces as a single, complete travel companion.
As summer travel continues, the collection remains available through Chelsea Truck Company for those looking to carry the same design identity associated with the marque's vehicles, on the road and beyond it.
