The Spirit And Magic Of The Defender Chelsea Wide Track
Feb 18, 2020

If someone you know does not quite understand quite why so many people are passionate about the Defender, and its respected forebears, make sure they read this article, then they may understand.

After 32 years in production and a staggering 67 years after its Series I precursors rolled off the line, Land Rover will bring a newer, more modern, and more eco-friendly Defender to market for 2016.

But until that day happens, you can still enjoy a modern take on the legendary brute at our boutique on the Kings Road in Chelsea, Leeds and Bradford showrooms.

The Defender Chelsea Wide Track certainly looks the part. Both the front and rear wheel arches have been extended with the addition of a square sectioned wide arch kit giving a brawnier, tougher look that harks back to the first Defender models.

The front fascia sports a redesigned X-Lander front grille; the front bumper incorporates new lighting elements, cross-hair military head lights and a sump guard.

The capable and dynamic character of the vehicle is also improved by means of a twin crosshair exhaust system in stainless steel; bonnet vents with mesh stainless steel and 9 x 20” Mondial wheels in Volcanic Black complete with 275 x 55 x 20” tyres add an element of functionality whilst mud flaps protect the exterior paintwork from flying debris.

This Defender wide track may look rugged and tough on the outside, but passengers are treated to a plethora of custom tailored luxuries inside.

Privacy tinted glass hide from view - front and rear Sports GTB seats in quilted and perforated leather, complete with Harris Tweed inserts.

A matching centre glove box, passenger dashboard, grab handles, single spoke steering wheel, door panel inserts, instrument binnacle, rear door panel, roof headliner, vented and machined aluminium foot pedals and a Churchill time clock are just some of the upgrades that contribute to a better driving experience.

History is a hallmark of the Defender, and the Defender Chelsea Wide Track still retains this despite the high end look and feel.

Indeed, the spirit and magic of the legendary Defender has been given the ultimate tribute by The Chelsea Truck Company.
