UK Summer Road Trip Prep
Back to Blogs

With spring finally here, us Brits are planning forward to ensure everything is prepared by the time summer rolls around. Not only does this involve a lot of budgeting, it also takes time as part of a couple or family to decide where and when you want to go away.

You don't have to leave the beauty of the country behind though, as UK summer road trips are just as fantastic. With an array of scenic routes and various popular destinations to choose from, it is an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Before you head off on the road, however, there are a few things you need to consider in terms of UK summer road trip prep, some of which have been listed below.

Destinations
The UK hosts an impressive range of historically and culturally rich areas that are equally idyllic. There is something for everyone here, but planning your route and the destinations you want to visit beforehand is always a good idea. Not only does this save time during your journey, giving you more of an opportunity to explore these locations, it also makes things more convenient and practical for the driver.

Date
After you've made a list of destinations you'd like to include in your road trip route, you need to think practically about what's achievable in the space of time you've allocated for it. Consider the best dates to go; summer holidays if you have children. On the other hand, if you don't have children, it's still important to remember the wave of summer holiday traffic queuing from your intended destination. Think about what times would be suitable to set off and move on to your next location. This could help to make your road trip more efficient, as well as allowing you to visit most of the places on your list.

Vehicle
Lastly, once you've organised the two points above, you need to think about what vehicle you are going to be taking. Think about its practicality on the type of terrain you're expecting to be travelling on. For example, a small car, most likely isn't suitable for locations with rough terrain. A Land Rover Defender, used or new, will perform excellently on these types of surfaces.

These are just three things to consider when preparing for your summer road trip. From all of us here at Chelsea Truck Company, enjoy the sunshine and make the most of your UK summer holiday.
