The hallmark of A. Kahn Design is the lack of pretence – what you see is what you get. And this is why you will see Kahn products in the smarter streets of London, Shanghai and New York. The common denominator is the Kahn brand. In automotive terms it is the ultimate designer label.

And by taking this opportunity to review the Chelsea Wrangler Sahara 2.8 Diesel 4 door,  the Chelsea Truck Company CJ300 LE to be precise, we find out first-hand; When you own a Kahn Jeep, you get noticed.

Some would say the Jeep has gone soft, yet the fact of the matter is that Afzal Kahn has successfully presented a warhorse that has become domesticated enough to sit serenely in your garage.

In terms of driving capability - on the open road, or the snow for that matter - the ride is generally good with impressive handling capability. You can't help but drive with graceful purpose - even though the roads are not great due to the bad weather.

On the open road it is rather civilised; with city based commuters and young pretenders in the clamouring city landscape at the helm.

Refinement is much enhanced over previous Wranglers thanks to a very decent styling package. This includes the customary cross hair headlamps, brake calipers, LED daytime running lights, rear light sections and side repeaters, side wing blades, vented foot pedals, spare wheel cover, door entry sill plates in stainless steel and Kahn branding.

And one must not forget that the Jeep’s body has been increased by 127mm, so there’s enough space for about three or four in the back. And you can get the vehicle with a canvas top, which, along with the doors, can be removed, ensuring a radical look – but we recommend this for warm climates only.

The Kahn Chelsea Jeep also scores profoundly with its luxurious cabin, there’s enough space in there to place all your belongings and then-some!

In addition, the Kahn cross hair exhausts in stainless steel ensures the engine purrs, responds quickly and only gets noisy if you are daft enough to go head to head with a Ferrari.

The front grille endows the vehicle with a quintessential British take on motoring luxury, whilst staying true to the original aesthetics of the vehicle – some feat!

Designed to slot in with factory mounting points for easy installation, the Kahn Jeep contains openings within the grille and lower valance in order to combat unwanted road debris - ensuring optimum airflow to the radiator, intercooler and front brakes, thus ‘the Kahn grille’, can stand the test of time, says Afzal Kahn.

This particular vehicle comes complete with quilted and perforated front and rear seats (heated) in black leather, speedo and rev counter in black and floor mats with 275x55x20” tyres (set of 4).

And if you want a special interior, Afzal Kahn would be happy to design for you a vehicle with an exterior the colour of your jeans and an interior with seats akin to the shade of, let’s say, your living room, the choice is yours.

One thing for sure, by owning a Kahn Jeep - you will find that you are not simply blending in with other drivers on the road - the road is your catwalk!
